~Pixie is 32 months old~
Totschooling and preschooling need not be an expensive exercise. There are many activities that can be made by recycling household items, like our pompom fine motor skill activity. This week I decided to make Pixie her very own Discovery Box. They can be rather pricy to purchase and I have been wanting to a Eye Spy Bag, but the import costs and the Rand/Dollar exchange makes it way to expensive. As an alternative I decided to make this Discovery Box instead. It is a round container that the girls’ hair bands came in and I used packaging tape to seal and strengthen it. She loves it, though she was rather frustrated in the beginning that she couldn’t get her fingers into the rice and remove the beads, LOL.
What you need:
Packaging tape
Clear plastic container
Various beads
Rice, enough to fill your container
Instructions:
Fill your container 1/3 of the way with rice.
Place your beads in the container.
Cover the beads with the remaining rice, leaving 1cm from the top of the container to get the rice space to move to reveal the beads.
Cover the container with the lid and seal tightly with the packaging tape.
