Montessori for Beginners

I have been asked, time and time again by parents new to the Montessori Method, how they can start using this system at home. The is SO MUCH information out there, that one becomes overwhelmed with information. Where do I start? Do I need all this expensive equipment? What equipment do I need? How do I know what my child with enjoy? These are questions I’m frequently asked.

What is Montessori?

For those who are unfamiliar, the Montessori method of learning is based on the work of Maria Montessori, from over a hundred years ago. Yet, her findings are incredibly relevant today. Her philosophy developed as she took an observant eye to the life of a child, noticing particular developmental periods for each specific age-range. Her theories have been lauded the world over, and many Montessori certified schools have been developed, based on her work. ~ btulloh098

Aubrey over at Montessori Mischief suggests that you follow your child, invest in shelves and baskets, choose some of your child’s nicest toys, and limit quantity.

Your Montessori Space at Home need not be big and elaborate. We have a tiny little space that works well for Pixie.
