Danone has been awarded the much-coveted prize of Product of the Year for 2016 in the food category, as voted by South African consumers. Votes were tallied via a survey of 5000 people, by Nielsen and the results have placed two of Danone’s products in the winner’s circle. Danone’s NutriDay Smooth and Fruit range won Product of the Year in the yoghurt category and Ultra Mel Vanilla Flavoured Custard claimed the Product of the Year prize in the custard category.
Product of the Year is the world’s largest organisation that is dedicated to recognizing and rewarding innovation. The process is unique in that although a panel of experts from diverse fields selects finalists, the public selects the winners, and Nielsen, the world’s largest research company, facilitates this process. The best products of 2016 were celebrated at a Product of the Year Night, held on the evening of the 24th of February 2016.
