Ad Logic: Analyzing TV Commercials – PREZI Lesson Plan from Arik Durfee on Teachers Pay Teachers
Ad Logic: Analyzing TV Commercials – Prezi Lesson Plan is a fun, engaging activity for getting students to think about persuasive techniques and to analyze validity of claims, soundness of reasoning, and relevancy of evidence.
I designed this lesson as part of an ongoing unit about persuasive speaking strategies, and what could be a better example of persuasive strategies than a TV commercial? During this one-hour lesson, students will watch several TV commercials, analyzing each one to figure out the persuasive strategies being used. The first half of the lesson uses a guided class discussion to model the analyses we want them to make, and the second half has students analyze commercials on their own by filling out a graphic organizer.

Science Journal: Periodic Table Compact Combo Guide from Travis Terry on Teachers Pay Teachers
This is two page piece that you can print as a two-sided page. It is then folded in-half and glued into students’ science journals. On the front, it has a compact study guide explaining the physical properties of the three main groups of elements… the metals, nonmetals, and metalloids. Open it up, and students have a blank periodic table. The directions tell the student to pick three separate colors… each to represent the metals, nonmetals, and metalloids. A key is also on the periodic table to remind students which section is which.
The file that you will get includes 3 pages. This is just in case you prefer to make your foldable to be fitted on the LEFT (back pages) or on the RIGHT (front pages) of your students’ journals.
