Get to know me better…

Fellow South African blogger, Charlotte, from The Stiletto Mum tagged me in her Get To Know Me Post. Pop on over to her blog to get to know her better!

1. Are you named after someone?

Yes, my maternal grandmother, Ouma. My second name is Christine (my names rhyme, gee, thanks Dad). Ouma, Fifi and I share a second name.

2. When was the last time you cried?

Today, I’m an emotional creature. Advertisements can be really heart rending…

3. Do you have kids?

Yes, I have 4. Noo is 13, Koko is 8, Fifi is 6 and Pixie is 4.

4. If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?

Yes. I’m a very loyal, helpful and dedicated friend.

5. Do you have a guilty pleasure?

Yes, Youtube. Oh and having my nails done once a month, kid free!

6. Do you like handwriting?

Yeah, I suppose its not bad. Its legible and gets the job done.

7. What is your favorite cereal?

I’m not a fan of cereals. I prefer muesli over anything else, though.

8. What is the first thing you notice about people?

Their body language. You can tell a lot about someone the way they carry themselves.

9. What color are your eyes?

Green with gold flecks.

10. Scary movies or happy endings?

Happy endings. If your little kids can’t watch it, then there’s no way I can, LOL.

11. Favorite TV show?

Bones/CSI/NCIS. I love crime scene shows. Bones is hands down my favourite.

12. Summer or winter?

Summer, I hate being cold!

13. Hugs or kisses?

Both, though I’m not a contact person. Hugs and kisses are reserved for my kids and husband.

4. What’s the furthest you’ve been from home?

I went to Cape Town as a baby. I’ve never left South Africa and have done very little travelling.

15. Do you have special talents?

Umm, I don’t think so.

16. Where were you born.

Virginia, Free State, South Africa

17. What are your hobbies?

I love to sit and crochet.

18. Do you have any pets?

Yes, Tammy, our doxy.

19. Favorite movie?

This is a tough one. Classic would be a toss up between My Fair Lady, Sound of Music and Mary Poppins and recent would have to be the Avengers Series. I’m a sucker for good musicals and action heroes.

20. What color is your car?

Burgundy.

21. What did you want to be when you grow up?

A teacher. I’m doing what I love by homeschooling my kidlets.

I nominate Heather from One Step at a Time, Victoire from Victoire.co.za and Portia from A Well Healed Woman.

I received a very nice email from a talented reader in Australia, named Lavinia. She told me that she really liked my book Special Me, but she asked if I minded if she redid it with updated text and graphics. I am always happy to share, and she sent back her revised copy for me to share with you!

All About Me Rainbows from Wimsy
Workshop Teaching

This is called “The Colors of Me” because it’s all about the individual student. Everyone’s rainbow will be different because we are all different; this leads well into a discussion about respecting everyone’s diversity and differences, or even the colors in a real rainbow. Students simply fill out their answers and choose the appropriate colors needed.

Today we had an “All About Me” preschool theme. We looked at pictures of my son as he has grown up the last 3 years and talked about how he used to be a baby, but has since grown and learn to do lots of new things.
