Gauteng Dance Festival
Pixie did her very first solo at the Gauteng Dance Festival and got an A for her effort. She danced beautifully and had me in tears, again, at her poise on the stage. She absolutely LOVED being up there, centre of attention and dancing her heart out.
Her hair didn’t take nearly as long this time. She opted to have two little braids on the top of her head (under the bow clips) and a curly pony tail. She looked adorable. She insisted on having gems on her face again, in Fifi’s favourite colour, blue. Papa Steve missed her solo by a whole 2 minutes and was bummed that he didn’t get to see her alone on stage. Thankfully, all the dances are recorded, so he will be able to see her dance her solo once we receive the DVD from the production company in December.
Watching these little 4 and 5 year olds dance their very first solos was such a pleasure. We forget that they also want to be on stage, like their older sisters. All three girls have sisters who dance, Z’s twin sisters dance with Fifi and E’s sister is 1 class up from Fifi. What great role models these little girls have in their sisters!
I really couldn’t be more proud of Pixie. She was a little unsure of herself in the beginning, continuously keeping an eye on her teacher in the wings and once she settled, she ROCKED that stage with her talent and just plain cuteness. I can’t wait to see her up there next year and watch her progress as she gets older. It has been such an honour to watch her grow into this precious little girl.
How lucky am I to have this little girl be all mine?
A HUGE thank you to Cassandra De Klerk from J&C Dance Creations for all the countless hours you have put into our girls and for helping them work towards their full potential.
