Letter Pointer craft

I saw these really cool letter pointers, by A Differentiated Kindergarten, on Pinterest a little while ago and decided to have Koko and Fifi decorate their own pointers for when we do letters every day.

I had bought 4 tubs of these letters a while ago, put them away and forgot about them.

While Noo was at his maths lessons with Bimpa (my father in law) and Koko had finished his lessons for the day, I inserted a bamboo skewer into each letter. I then gave the kidlets some glitter glue to wild with. They loved it.

Koko has blue and orange letters and Fifi has purple and green letters.

Koko is 50 months old (4 years 2 months)and Fifi is 28 months old

The littlies and I have been doing quite a bit of baking over the last few weeks. Here are some pics of the littlies and their cupcakes. I attempted the frosting (not my strong point, I’m afraid) and the littlies did the sprinkles.

I got this wonderful idea from Rockerbye Butterfly and decided to do something similar and create our own Letter/Number Review and Check Sheets, downloadable downloadable here.

Every week we check off which letters he worked on and learnt that week. He is doing really well retaining all the letters he has learned so far. He is still battling with some of his numbers, but he is getting there. I’m not concerned at the moment.

Koko is doing really well with reading lessons and is loving every lesson.

As mentioned on my previous post, I have decided to split our Little Monster School posts into Little Monster Totschool and Little Monster Preschool. This way its easier for me to track each of their development.

This week Koko has spent most of his lessons working on our Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons book. He is now recognising and reading phonetic letters m, s and a. He is loving it. Once we have covered the alphabet, we’ll start on the You Can Read programme from 1+1+1=1.

Here are a few pics from Thursday (the camera batteries were flat the other days and I kept forgetting to charge them, LOL).

Getting ready for our reading lesson. We do the lessons on my bed, its comfy and relaxed there

He insisted on using the bed to do his writing worksheet, I eventually convinced him that using his table would be a much better idea, LOL.

By the end of our school day he is exhausted and naps for at least 3-4 hours! He is loving his lessons and asks for more every day.

Getting ready for the week. “Reading” her Princess Activity Book.

I bought Fifi some Princess Wash or Toss Cups this weekend when they were on sale. She is now officially off bottles during the day. There shall be no tossing of these cups, they are the only thing she will drink from, LOL. I definitely need to go get her some more.

To make life easier for Koko (and Fifi), I have decided that Fifi will be doing her activities in her high chair while he is using their table. With the limited space we have this has been working really well 🙂

Fifi doing her princess “dot paint” activity with circle stickers. Dot paints are hard to come by here. This is one of her favourite activities. She just wanted to do more and more.

And of course, she had to get a sticker on her forehead, LOL.

Koko working with our magnetic shapes. I desperately need to get more, these are ancient.

Some sensory play for Fifi. I made her a few boxes of coloured rice and added trinkets to make them more interesting. She spends ages playing with these and I find how that she is sitting in her high chair, there is much less mess.

While Koko was doing his cutting work (see photo above), Fifi decided she also wanted to do some cutting and boy oh boy did she make a glorious mess, LOL.
