Funschool Update

So the last few weeks have been crazy here, I haven’t had much time to blog. So here is a quick update in pictures of the fun things the kids have been busy with lately.

I made the little kidlets a “house” using a Pooh Bear blanket and the clothes horse. They spent hours playing in there

Koko painted our little wooden table blue. It washed off, fortunately

We had a field fire next door (not so much fun school, but definitely educational). Pappa Steve stood on a chair and fought the fire that was raging against our boundary wall

Fifi got a glitter hat for my BFF’s daughter’s Mad Hatter birthday party

We went to another friend’s little girls Hello Kitty themed 1st birthday party

The kidlets went from swimming in our little splash pool to having full reign of our neighbours pool during the week. My kids are real water babies, especially Noo and Fifi

Fifi got a new swimming costume and matching hat, she picked them out herself

Koko fell asleep while playing Gran Turismo on the PS2

We went for our monthly breakfast at Wimpy. Noo hates waiting for food, LOL

I bought Fifi a Barbie teaset only to realise once we got home that it actually said Beautify. You’ve gotto love China knock offs

Noo got a new haircut

Halloween

We do not, generally, celebrate or take part in Halloween, however, this year Pappa Steve let me buy an orange pumpkin to carve. I have always wanted to carve a pumpkin so this was quite a treat for me.

Noo helped remove the guts, Koko and Fifi weren’t to thrilled with the idea of sticking their hands in there, LOL. I made the hole a little to small, but so we live and we learn.

Our finished product, not bad for our first attempt. Pappa Steve was so impressed he has said I can do them every year now. Jack had an honorary spot at our front gate (Note that none of the other houses on our street had any Halloween decorations)

I’m thinking next year I’m going to arrange a trick or treat here in our neighbourhood for all the kiddies and get everyone dressed up.

Planning for the rest of Gr 2

We will be going away to visit my mother and step father on their Game Farm for two weeks at the end of November/early December and I want to get all my planning done as we will still be doing school while the we are there, the bare necessities reading, maths and bible studies, so that we don’t fall behind my strict schedule. Here is my planning for the rest of the school year, including my planning for the time we are away. We will be completely finished with the Gr2 Curriculum with 14 days to spare. I’m very happy with the progress we have made this year so far.

Theme of the Month ~ October ~ Antarctica

The first puppet show – The princess and the dragon (Inspired by Shrek)

The boys had be assemble the Puppet Show “Theatre” as soon as we got home and put on a Shrek inspired Princess (Noo) and the Dragon (Koko) skit ending with the dragon eating the Princess, LOL.

This morning while I was out with the children doing my monthly grocery shopping, I popped into a few stores and couldn’t resist getting these wonderful goodies.

I bought this finger puppet show set at Mr Price Home. The kids love it!

This book was bought at Cum Books

I bought these books at Bargain Books. Their prices are fantastic. I don’t know how I have never gone in there, LOL. They have a HUGE educational selection. I was spoilt for choice.

I just love this Flip Chart, its going to work so well with our Themes for the next year. Noo has already gone through it and is so excited to start using it on Monday.

My First World Atlas with 3D blow up globe, this is an awesome book. Its a wonderful addition to our theme centre (will blog about that soon). Its engaging which is exactly what I needed. It also came with a wall map 🙂

Noo is still struggling with the division concept, so I got these two write and wipe books to help him with division as well as multiplication.

This book was a freebie for Mom. It was a lovely surprise when I unpacked the shopping bag at home. I’ll start reading it as soon as I have gotten to “Tuesdays with Morrie”

The Kidlets also got to buy a book each, this are what they got.

Noo: Secrets of the Pirate Captain. We’ll be using this during our North America Theme (which runs for 2 months) and tracking and studying the areas in the “Captains Log”.
