In every job that must be done, there’s an element of fun ~ Mary Poppins

The kids loved the book. They were a little confused that it seemed to leave out some of the story they had covered in the movie. I was taken aback by the blasphemy in the book, since I don’t use that type of language. I just changed the word to “gosh” while I was reading.

Here the kids are paging through the book after bathtime.

My three sick kidlets watching the movie. Fifi had tonsillitis which had almost cleared by the time this photo was taken, Pixie had upper respiratory tract infection (Papa Steven said she sounded like Darth Vader, LOL) and Koko was heading to the doctor that afternoon, he has terrible sinus infection thanks to his allergies 🙁

I found the inspiration for this activity on the Crayola web site. The kidlets loved it.

As part of our monthly Poppin Book Nook theme we read the Wonderful Wizard of Oz (keep an eye out on the post on 29 April) and I decided that one of the activities would be building the Emerald City. The kidlets LOVED it, Koko especially.

We used the following items:
18 toilet rolls
1 medium sized pizza box
Masking tape
Yellow paint
Blue paint (to make green)
Pen (to draw the bricks on the yellow brick road)

Here are a few photos of the process and the end result.

Poppins Book Nook March

In every job that must be done, there’s an element of fun ~ Mary Poppins

The kidlets, Fifi especially, have really enjoyed this month’s Poppins Book Nook theme of Princesses, Knights and Castles. I tried to incorporate something of each portion of the theme into the activities.

We started off with reading our book, Princess Petunia and the Good Knight. Once we had finished the story and discussed the morals, Koko found all the words he could sound out on a few pages.

They spent a few days working on their new workbooks (resources below)

We watched a few Disney Princess movies, built our Princess Fairy Tale floor puzzle together, played with our Castle Logix and Fifi spent hours playing with her Magnetic Paper Doll Princess.
