Totschool Resources

Here are some of my favourite free Totschool resources. It has been quite a while since I’ve had a tot in the home. My “baby” is 11 years old! Totschool is something I did with all 3 my youngest children and found it incredibly beneficial when I was schooling the older children.

100+ Free Toddler Printables from Totschooling.net

This is a growing collection of free printables for toddlers, designed for ages approximately 18 months – 36 months.

Tot School from 1+1+1=1

Tot School was developed here! The name has spread far and wide across the Internet, but if you’re wondering where the name originally came from, you are in the right place! My oldest son gave the name to this concept when he was just 6 years old…

Tot School isn’t really school at all, it is simply a name given to the idea of learning through play at home during the younger years.

Mommy Made Printables from Totally Tots

Our Mission for Totally Tots is to unite and encourage Christian Moms to train up their children in the way they should go. We desire Totally Tots to be a place where we encourage one another in love, and joyfully share ideas that will strengthen us in training up the next generation of Kingdom warriors. We believe that we can learn from each other’s experiences and provide wisdom gained by them.

We believe that one of the best ways to do this is to encourage each other in faith, by our spoken and written words. It is our hope that as we unite women in Christ, the young will glean wisdom from the old, one will gain strength from another, and together we’ll shed light to the world. Our greatest hope is that through all we share on Totally Tots – that our children will be a reflection of our hearts on fire for His glory.

Totschool resources from Tot School Resources

As a busy mom it can be hard to keep toddlers and preschoolers entertained. I created TotSchool Resources to provide ideas for crafts & activities you can easily do at home whether you’re doing homeschool preschool or just need to keep your little one entertained.

Totschool Activites & Crafts from Shannon’s Totschool

Do you need some inspiration for activities to do with your own tots? You are in the right place!

Totschool: Planning Totschool Trays & Activities For The Week from Year Round Homeschooling with Misty Leask

When Fifi was a baby, I was fortunate enough to go to a little seminar held by Lauryan over at Edukits. The topic of discussion was “Toddler Taming: Stimulating and Teaching Toddlers through Play.” What has stayed with me the most over the last 5.5 years, is the importance of routine and how it benefits both the child and the parent/caregiver.

Teeny Tiny Tot School from Confessions of a Homeschooler

I used a lot of the resources from Confessions of a Homeschooler for my little one when they started joining our school sessions.

There are so many free resources online, I’ve collated a few themes to help you out. You can find those freebies HERE!

Freebie Friday ~ 4 NEW Monsters Ed Christmas FREEBIES

This post may contain affiliate links which help support my family. Thank you for stopping by.

Christmas is fast approaching! I can hardly believe that we are already at the end of 2022. What a roller coaster ride the last few years have been. To celebrate the festive season, I’ve created these FREE early education mini packs. These will remain free on Monsters Ed forever!

Each mini pack includes the following festive activities:
Complete the pattern

Do-a-Dot letter activity (can be completed with either do-a-dot markers, pompoms or stickers)

Number recognition peg activity

Name recognition concertina book

Colour matching cards

I like to make up the mini packs in a file folder. This keeps the activities together and the file folder fits into a large envelope, which is easy to store.

February is the Month of Love and what better way to celebrate than to have Valentines Day themed Montessori Trays!

1. photo IMG_8017_zpsmkpmspab.jpg

Heart shape puzzles. These are super cute! Pixie is going to L.O.V.E. these!

2. photo IMG_8022_zpseorgkvdd.jpg

I bought this adorable heart silicone mould a few years ago. I added some pink aquarium stones in a little basket with tweezers.

3. photo IMG_8019_zpsxdftceo8.jpg

Many coloured hearts book with pencils.

4. photo IMG_8015_zpsaquxeveb.jpg

I pushed golf tees into a glitter covered styrofoam heart and have red marbles in another little basket. The marbles balance on the golf tees. I initially had it all on the green heart tray, but it wasn’t perfectly flat, so the marbles kept falling off.

5. photo IMG_8018_zpsencte9th.jpg

Heart colour matching cards

6. photo IMG_8016_zpsddxwjgyx.jpg

Achy Breaky Hearts Matching Game file folder game that I modified for Fifi years ago.

7. These are books she loves to page through (you can find the link of our favourite books here). It’s not all of the books she loves, mind you (there just isn’t enough space on this shelf).

8. I bought the mats at Mr Price Home for R50 each. They are the perfect size. We have them in the size 50×80 and in white, green and blue.

~Pixie is 37 months old~

I have tweaked Pixie’s Tot Trays and the way they are stored for her. I have added 4 little baskets for the small activities and her Tot Packs. She loved them on Monday when she saw what I had prepared for her. I wish I had the camera at the ready when she saw everything set out like this for her. She also received her first “official” workbook for school and has absolutely fallen in love with it. I’ve limited her to 2 pages a day so it lasts a little longer. I purchased this basket set last weekend and they are perfect.

So without further ado, here is Pixie’s new Tot Tray and Basket setup

Basket 1

 photo 20140929_104531_zpshk09czlb.jpg

I downloaded this Cinderella tot book from One Little, Two Little when Fifi was still a Totschooler and Pixie loves it. She goes through the basket regularly during the day. I have the whole pack stored in here for her, just like the Nemo tot pack below.

Basket 2

 photo 20140929_104524_zps75zoonlx.jpg

Pompom fine motor skill activity. I found this great activity on Pinterest. For this particular activity I’ve cut holes into the lid of an empty Pilsbury Frosting container for the bigger sized pompoms. I have another pompom fine motor skill activity using a feta container and 14mm pompoms.

Basket 3

I downloaded this Nemo tot pack from 1+1+1=1 when Koko was still a Totschooler and Pixie loves it. She goes through the basket regularly during the day. I have the whole pack stored in here for her.

Tray 4

 photo 20140929_104513_zpsrzztoseh.jpg

Dot Marker with an activity sheet. This may be her favourite art activity to date. She loves these. The dot marker set I bought came with activity sheets and she is steadily ploughing through them.

Basket 5

 photo 20140929_104519_zps7niyamna.jpg

She got these Melissa & Doug Lace and Trace Pets for her birthday from a good friend and spends hours lacing and unlacing them. These are a GREAT gift idea.

Tray 6

 photo 20140929_104508_zpsmvw2hgtj.jpg

Pixie’s first “official” school workbook, Smart-Kids I am three. She loves this book. It was well worth the cost.

Tray 7

 photo 20140929_104504_zpswhy9tn02.jpg

This is another home made toy I made for her. I went to the hardware store and got some paint chip strips in different colour shades. I then took 4 pompoms in each colour to match the paint chip strips. I glued the paint chips to a sheet of paper and laminated it to for durability. She loves playing with this tray at night during calm down time before bed.

Basket 8

In the large pink basket, I store all our little wooden trays like the one used for tray 4.

Tot SchoolTiny Tag Alongs
~Fifi is 18 months old~

Since Fifi is getting more and more difficult to keep entertained during our school day and I’ve rearranged and moved our school area, I decided to follow Carissa’s example and make a designated area for her to play and learn during the boys’ lessons.

Welcome to Fifi’s Tot Spot

Photobucket

This is the bottom shelf of the big book shelf in the school area. This bookshelf is also home to the story books, puzzles and board games. I don’t have nearly enough educational activities for her, I need to start building up her tot stash up quicker.

Photobucket

Here are a few of the goodies I’ve taken out for her to play with for the next week:

Peg puzzles

Mickey Mouse beads in an ice tray with a tweezers (tea bag strainer)

Nuts and Bolts

Connectors

Photobucket

The ever present Jumbo peg board, her favourite toy right now

Photobucket

A few of her favourite books (There are more, I’m still working on a reading area for her)

Photobucket

While I was busy sorting out her goodies for her Tot Spot, she decided to use the shelf as a bed ♥

Once I had started packing the shelf, she grabbed the peg board and entertained herself while watching a show on TV *giggle*
